finding clarity and order in the chaos

Updated: Feb 25

The Black Death wiped out up to 60% of Europe’s population. It is easily one of the most catastrophic periods of time in human history. Out of this devastation and chaos rose the Renaissance. The Renaissance  is considered one of the greatest periods of innovation and artistic achievement in human history. The works of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and raphael flourished in this era.

In almost every sense chaos is the key to greater creation and once you understand this, the chaos in your life will become less of an obstacle to be tackled and more of a gift to be embraced, a guiding light that will show you down a path of greatness.

In neuroscience the brain thrives on chaos. Neural networks operate with a delicate balance of order and disorder, a state called "criticality." This chaotic activity is crucial for creativity, problem-solving, and adaptation.

In life we all experience phases of chaos, when we are in them nothing feels certain, it's difficult to find direction and this fog can be quite stressful. In these times it's not uncommon to reach outside of yourself for answers yet chaos is a calling to go within.

What transforms that chaos into greater clarity comes down to how well we can sit with it. Be still and patient enough for these intangible complex emotions to find form in language, understanding, vision.

When we have found it, life opens up to us. This is the active process of breaking through to the deeper insight that you have been called to.

To be able to sit with how we feel without trying to distract ourselves takes trust. We can get irritated and anxious when we are consumed by uncertainty. It feels counter intuitive but the wonderful thing about our mind is that it is ever evolving and whatever you bring awareness to evolves as you do even if it might not always feel so.

We exist in a world that often emphasizes productivity, quick fixes and external solutions rather than deep inner work. Sitting with emotions without trying to solve them could feel unproductive to some. We are not generally taught to listen to our inner voice and trust the wisdom of our intuition, this is the thinking pattern that gets people stuck in loops rather than allowing them space to evolve.

The shift from avoidance to awareness is a unavoidable stepping stone.

Introspective practices such as journaling or meditations are the most direct ways to slow down enough to find clarity in the chaos.

Simple meditation:

  • Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and sit in stillness.

  • Observe your emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations without judgment.

  • Write down any words, images, or feelings that surface.

Outcome: Over time, patterns and insights emerge, transforming confusion into clarity.

Chaos is a pattern yet to be recognized to me but also it's like kicking up dust and then clearing out the dust when people start coughing on it.
